This final unit was very fun, and a good learning experience. It wrapped up almost everything we learned this semester. I learned how to edit, how to interview people, and so much more. This taught me a lot about cinematography, and it is very helpful. I learned how to film using the rule of thirds. I also learned how to avoid jump cuts and balance the colors in Final Cut Pro. Getting to interview Caroline Powell was really interesting, and I liked to learn about her cheerleading experience. I went into this semester not knowing anything about filming and editing, but now that the final project is over, I know how to do a lot more.

After watching the Interviewing Tips video, it taught me more about interviewing and the steps I have to go through. The first thing I learned is that you need to make sure you plan out everything ahead of time. You have to brainstorm ideas of what the interview is going to be about, and you have to think of the questions you are going to ask. Another lesson I learned is that the equipment is important. You need to have a good, stable set up, and working microphones if you are using one. That goes into another lesson, the audio. Before you start with the interview you need to make sure the audio is clear and working. If you are using a microphone, it is good to test it out before hand, just to be sure it works. If you aren't using a microphone, you need to have the camera about two to three feet away from the person you are interviewing, and a quiet location. I also learned that it is good to practice before the actual interview. You need to make sure you practice how to set up the camera, and have good composition. It is also good to practice the actual speaking of the interview, and make sure the person is talking clearly. Finally, conducting the interview. You need to have the camera set up, the audio clear, and the questions you are asking. It is good to go deep into the questions and ask them to tell you more about the subject they are talking about. It is also very important to get B-roll so the audience can see visuals of what the person is talking about. It is showing and telling the audience about the subject. These tips are really useful for interviews and can make the video turn out amazing.
